The Poway Interfaith Team began its operation in February of 2006 in Poway , California . The members were first made up of speakers from the 2006 Baha'i World Day of Peace who believed the wonderful friendships they made could be developed even further. In the summer of 2006, the Team created their first “Interfaith Summer Nights” program in the social hall of the Community Church of Poway and for 8-consecutive Wednesdays, a different faith speaker gave an hour-long talk about their faith and its beliefs and it was followed up with a half hour of social time filled with that faith's food. The team had expected 30-40 people to attend from the community and instead, 70-90 people attended each week's program. The team offered an Interfaith Picnic to the community at the end of the 8 weeks and over 120 people came to learn more about the faith, sample a variety of the faith's food and play interactive non-competitive games together. After participating in the October '06 Crop Walk and then again at the Baha'i World Day of Prayer in January of '07, the Team put on their second 8-week Interfaith Summer Nights and had to double up on two nights because now 10 different faith representatives wanted to speak. |

| The attendance grew to 80-110 people per evening and we were excited to be gaining a positive name in the community for Interfaith Interaction. After the devastating San Diego Wildfires of October 2007, the Team chose to put on a program honoring our firefighters and police in Poway and the surrounding areas. | :

In January of '08 we hosted the “Honoring Our Heroes” program at the Sikh Temple in Poway with elected officials and firefighters and police from the community in attendance. Awards were given and over 300 people attended the event.Formal elections were held late in 2007 and in 2008 we became incorporated as a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation in the state of California . Our 2008 Interfaith Summer Nights has grown to two speakers on each of the eight nights as more faiths are choosing to participate. Come join us for fun, education and the peaceful interaction of all faiths.
